Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Display Assembly Replacement

This repair guide is for replacing the display assembly on a Galaxy Note 4 device.

Step 1 | Display Assembly

Remove all internal components for easier repair.

  • Take out the battery.
  • Remove the S Pen.
  • Disconnect the SD Card
  • Also remove the SIM card, if your phone uses one.

Heat the screen edges to release the adhesive.

Use a pry tool or pick to slowly work around the edges of the screen.

  • Work from top to sides, approaching the adhesive on the bottom with care.
  • Be cautious when near the touch-sensitive pads, as they are easily damaged and may need to be replaced.

Make sure to position the Jimmy under the copper insulation before cutting the adhesive, as it can be quite stubborn.

  • Insert the Jimmy underneath the LCD to target the middle section of the adhesive.

Locate the red line to find the adhesive.

  • When inserting a spudger from the right side:
    • Keep it under 2.2cm in length to avoid damaging the home button flex.
  • When inserting a spudger from the left side:
    • Keep it under 4.4cm in length for the same reason.

Be cautious when cutting the adhesive for the LCD screen flex on the top part.

  • Leave the top part of the flex intact, as damaging it may be unavoidable if using a broken screen.

Exercise care with the bottom side where soft keys are located.

  • When installing the new LCD screen, ensure the adhesive on the red line adheres properly to avoid using an alternative fixative.
  • If the original adhesive fails, apply 3M double-side tape to secure the new screen with its sticker in place.

Release the S Pen touch sensor film connector.

Release the LCD screen connector.

Step 7

Remove the LCD bezel and gently pry the LCD screen away from the main body.

  • Use a plastic spudger or other flat tool to loosen the LCD's attachment points.
  • Gently rock the LCD back and forth while pulling it straight out of its mounting clips.
