Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Power button + Vibration motor Replacement
Step 1 | Remove your back cover
Locate the rear cover notch.
Careful not to break the notch or the surrounding plastic.
- Gently slide your finger into the notch to release the back cover
Step 2 | Remove your battery and S-Pen
Insert the plastic spudger or your fingernail into the battery's notch.
- Use a plastic spudger if you don't have your stylus nearby.
- If you previously removed the stylus, skip this step.
Step 3 | Removing the mid-frame
Locate the hidden screw covered by a sticker near the mid-frame.
- Remove the sticker to access the hidden screw.
- Proceed with removing all other Philips head screws from the mid-frame (12 total).
Step 4 | Disconnecting the flex cables
When lifting up the board, be cautious not to catch any of the disconnected flex cables.
- The following connections were highlighted:
- CAMERA AND VARIOUS SENSORS FLEX CABLE
- CHARGING PORT FLEX
- SCREEN FLEX
- HEADPHONE JACK FLEX
- (Optional: Coaxial antenna)
Step 5 | Removing the motherboard from the assembly
Grab the board gently, using tweezers to realign any caught flex cables.
- Pull the rear camera module slightly towards the rear.
- Handle the headphone jack flex cable, button flex, and charging flex with care, as they may tear if stretched too far.
Be cautious not to rip the flex connection; excessive force may damage it.
Step 6 | Removing the vibrator motor + Power button assembly
Use caution when working with the vibration motor, as excessive force can damage contact pads.
- Insert a small amount of material using your tweezers into the vibration motor, creating a gap.
- Proceed slowly to avoid damaging the contact pads; if they break, repair is difficult.
Be cautious not to overextend when using heat to facilitate removal (if necessary).
- Repeat this process if replacing the power button casing, as rubber degradation can cause pressing difficulties.
