Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Motherboard Replacement

Precautions must be taken not to damage any internal components or wiring.

  • Remove all expansion cards and connectors from the motherboard.
  • Disconnect the power cord and unplug all cables connected to the motherboard.

Step 1 | Remove the rear case

Insert plastic opening tool into the gap between the rear case and the base of the phone.

Step 2 | Remove Case from the Base

Locate the edge of the rear case.

  • Use a fingernail or plastic opening tool to pry along this edge.
  • Lift the case gently from its base.

Step 3 | Battery

Lever out the battery using a fingertip or plastic prong inserted into the narrow space between it and the phone base.

  • Insert the tool into the small gap, then gently pry the battery upwards.
  • Lift the battery out of its recess completely.

Step 4 | S Pen

Insert the tip of a paperclip or similar tool into the stylus pen's groove.

  • Pull gently to release the stylus pen from the phone.

Step 5 | Unscrew Back Chassis

Remove twelve 4mm Phillips #00 screws from the back chassis.

Step 6 | Remove Back Chassis

Insert plastic opening tool into Stylus Pen placement holder.

  • Lift plastic opening tool to separate midframe from base.

Step 7 | Screw Removal

Remove the screw located next to the headphone jack.

Step 8 | Unfasten Clips and Cable Connectors

  • Remove the antenna clips using tweezers.
  • Disconnect six cable connectors with a spudger.

Step 9 | Motherboard Removal

Use tweezers to gently lift the motherboard.
