Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Headphone Jack Replacement

Step 1 | Remove the rear case

Insert a fingernail or plastic opening tool into the gap between the rear case and the phone's base.

Step 2 | Remove Case from the Base

Use a fingernail or plastic opening tool to pry along the edge of the rear case.

Be gentle when lifting the case to avoid damage.

Lift the rear case from its base.

Step 3 | Battery

  • Use a fingernail or plastic opening tool to pry the battery from its recess.
  • Lift the battery out of the phone base.

Step 4 | S Pen

Locate the stylus pen on your phone.

  • Gently insert the tip of your finger into the groove at one end of the stylus pen.
  • Pull the stylus pen away from your phone using your fingernail.

Step 5 | Unscrew Back Chassis

Remove the 12 x 4mm Phillips #00 screws securing the back chassis.

Step 6 | Remove Back Chassis

Insert the plastic opening tool into the Stylus Pen placement holder.

  • Lift the plastic opening tool, and the midframe should separate from the base.

Step 7 | Screw Removal

Locate and remove the screw adjacent to the headphone jack.

Step 8 | Unfasten Clips and Cable Connectors

Remove the antenna clips with a pair of tweezers.

  • Disconnect six cable connectors using a spudger.

Step 9 | Motherboard Removal

Hold the motherboard firmly and gently pull it upwards using a pair of tweezers.

Step 10 | Spudger Tool Placement

Insert the spudger into the headphone jack.

Step 11 | Lift to Separate Headphone Jack

Step 11 image

Use the plastic spudger to gently pry the jack assembly away from the motherboard.

  • Lift the spudger under the jack assembly.
  • Pull the spudger away from you to separate it from the motherboard.
  • Continue pulling until the jack assembly is completely removed.
