Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Display Assembly Replacement

This guide covers removal of all components from the display assembly.

Step 1 | Remove the rear case

Insert a plastic opening tool into the gap between the rear case and the base of the phone.

Step 2 | Remove Case from the Base

Slide the plastic opening tool along the edge of the rear case.

  • Lift the case gently from its base.

Step 3 | Battery

  • Insert a fingernail or plastic opening tool into the gap between the battery and phone base.
  • Lift the battery out of its recess.

Step 4 | S Pen

Insert the stylus pen into the phone's charging port.

  • Pull the stylus pen straight out of the port.

Step 5 | Unscrew Back Chassis

Remove the 12 x 4mm Phillips #00 screws from the back chassis.

  • Insert a plastic opening tool into the Stylus Pen placement holder.

  • Lift the tool to separate the midframe from the base.

Step 7 | Screw Removal

Remove the screw located beside the headphone jack.

Step 8 | Unfasten Clips and Cable Connectors

  • Remove the antenna clips using tweezers.
  • Disconnect six cable connectors with a spudger.

Step 9 | Motherboard Removal

Hold the motherboard firmly in place with one hand, then use the other to carefully grasp it with a pair of tweezers.

Step 10 | Spudger Tool Placement

Insert the plastic spudger into the headphone jack.

Step 11 | Lift to Separate Headphone Jack

Step 11 image

Lift the spudger to pry apart the jack assembly and motherboard.

Pull downwards to completely remove the jack assembly.

Step 12 | Metal Bracket Removal

Locate and remove the metal bracket situated in the top left corner.

Step 13 | Remove Vibrating Motor

Careful not to damage the surrounding components.

  • Hold the vibrating motor firmly in place with one hand.
  • Use the tweezers to gently pull the motor upwards.

Step 14 | USB Port Removal

Step 14 image

Lift the USB port from the front assembly using the tweezers.

Step 15 | Display Assembly

Step 15 image

Remove and retain all non-display components.

The remaining unit is the display assembly.
