Since my power button stopped working and the device is out of warranty, I've replaced it myself.
Replace malfunctioning power button with:
Note: A scalpel is not essential but may be helpful in tight spaces.
Avoid applying excessive force — risk of damage.
Remove the various connectors using your opening tool.
Use a scalpel to carefully remove glued on volume- and power button flex cables without cutting the cable itself.
Ensure the motherboard clears any cables as you remove it.
We will not be addressing these components in this guide, focus on replacing the malfunctioning power button instead.
Be careful when opening the latch, as prying at the wrong part may cause no harm but waste time.
Reassemble by placing the motherboard back into the device.
Ensure the flex cable is not caught underneath the motherboard.
Reconnect the connectors, cable, and vibrator to the motherboard and housing using your fingers.
Align the flex cables carefully and secure them with any remaining adhesive.
Do not worry if cables appear loose – they will be secured by the case once reassembled.
Reattach the housing. You should hear two distinct snaps.
Press the newly installed power button to turn on the device.
Be prepared for potential issues if the power button was not replaced correctly, leading to further troubleshooting or repair.
The Nexus logo should appear on the AMOLED display when the device powers up successfully.
