Samsung Galaxy Nexus Motherboard Replacement

Replacing the motherboard in your Samsung Galaxy Nexus? Start with this guide.

Step 1 | Back of Phone

Insert a plastic spudger or your finger into the divot to begin disassembling.

  • Open the back of the phone for battery access.

Step 2 | Removal of Back Cover

Move the prying tool or your finger away from the phone, keeping it within the divot until you're ready to remove the back cover.

  • Hold the device firmly with one hand.
  • Gradually pry the back cover loose, working around its edges.

Step 3 | Removal of Battery

Finger must be fully seated in divot before pulling to avoid accidental pinching.

  • Insert finger into divot of old battery and gently pull toward self to release.
  • Remove old battery and set aside for disposal or recycling.

When installing a new battery, align tabs on new battery with divots in device and firmly push until secure.

Step 4 | Motherboard

Use a PH # 000 to remove the 4.4 mm screws, as shown in the provided image.

Ensure the phone is right-side up after screw removal.

  • Insert a plastic opening tool between the screen and case, then move it around without removing it.
  • Pop the screen out of the outer shell carefully to avoid damaging the control board or screen.

Be cautious not to damage the control board or the screen.

Step 6 | Removing Control Board

Remove PZ 000 marked screw using a PH #000 driver.

Use a flat head screwdriver to lift the blue connector.

Use your finger or a prying tool to gently pull back the bottom module.

Use tweezers or a flat head screwdriver to remove the internal battery.

Be aware that there may be glue holding the battery and chassis together.

Use tweezers to carefully peel the display connector strip away from the main circuit board.

  • Remove the USB connector strip from the main circuit board using the tweezers.

Remove the antenna using either your fingers or tweezers.

Step 12

Use tweezers to gently remove the top circuit board.

  • If applicable, identify and carefully disconnect any ribbon cable connectors attached to the underside of the board.
  • Avoid pulling on the cables, which can damage their sockets.
