Samsung Galaxy Nexus Headphone Jack Replacement

Headphones not working when plugged into the headphone jack?

  • Plug headphones into the headphone jack and check if they're functioning properly.
  • Proceed to step 1 of this guide for troubleshooting steps.

Step 1 | Back of Phone

  • Open the phone's back using a plastic opening tool or your fingernail.
  • Insert the tool or nail into the divot.

Step 2 | Removal of Back Cover

Move the prying tool or your fingernail away from the phone, ensuring it remains seated in the divot.

  • Continue to gently pry the back cover off the phone.

Step 3 | Removal of Battery

  • Place a finger in the battery's divot.

  • Pull the battery out towards you.

When replacing, ensure the positive terminal faces upwards.

Step 4 | Motherboard

Use a PH #000 to remove the 4.4mm screws, as shown in the provided image.

Remove the screws.

  • Turn the phone right side up.
  • Insert a plastic opening tool between the screen and case, moving it around without removing it.
  • Be cautious not to damage the control board or the screen while popping it out of the outer shell.

Step 6 | Removing Control Board

Remove PH #000 marked screw, 4.4mm diameter.

Remove the blue connector using a flat head screwdriver.

Use your finger or a prying tool to gently push back the bottom module.

Careful not to damage the circuit board due to the glued joints.

  • Use tweezers or a flat head screwdriver to gently pry up the internal battery.
  • The battery and chassis are secured by adhesive at the bottom, so be prepared for some resistance.

Use tweezers to carefully peel the display connector strip away from the main circuit board.

  • Remove the display connector strip.
  • Next, use tweezers to remove the USB connector strip from the main circuit board.

Step 11

Use your fingers or a pair of tweezers to carefully remove the antenna.

Step 12

Use tweezers to carefully remove the top circuit board.

  • Optional: If attached, gently pull the ribbon cable connectors from their sockets on the underside of the board.

Step 13 | Remove Headphone Socket

  • Tweezers gently pull out the Headphone socket.
