Samsung Galaxy Nexus Back Camera Lens Replacement

A blurry or poorly focused image can be frustrating — take care when handling the camera module.

  • Acquire a replacement back camera lens designed for your device model, if necessary.
  • Power down your Galaxy Nexus and remove the battery.
  • Use a suction cup to gently pry up the display assembly.
  • Locate and detach the camera module connector from the main board.
  • Remove the old lens by sliding it out of its housing, taking note of any retaining clips or screws.
  • Install the new lens securely in place and reassemble the camera module.

Step 1 | Back of Phone

Insert a plastic spudger into the divot to pry open the phone's back panel.

  • Your fingernail can be used as an alternative tool in this case.
  • Gently pry the back panel open to access the battery compartment.

Step 2 | Removal of Back Cover

Release the back cover by slowly sliding the prying tool or your fingertip away from the phone.

Be careful not to force the back cover out, as it may break if subjected to excessive pressure.

Step 3 | Removal of Battery

Place your finger in the battery compartment divot and gently pull the battery outwards.

  • Remove old battery from the device.
  • Insert a new battery into the compartment, ensuring it is securely seated.

Step 4 | Motherboard

Use a PH #000 screwdriver to remove four 4.4 mm screws, following the marked location in the provided image.

Remove all screws.

  • Turn the phone right side up.
  • Plastic opening tool between screen and case, moving around without removing.
  • Persistently press the screen out of the outer shell until it releases.

Be careful not to damage the control board or the screen.

Remove the screw with a PH #000 bit.

Be careful not to damage the surrounding material.

Use a flat head screwdriver to gently lift the blue connector.

Use your finger or a prying tool to gently pry back the bottom module.

Careful not to touch any electrical components.

  • Use tweezers or a flat-head screwdriver to carefully remove the internal battery.
  • The battery is attached with glue at the bottom; be gentle to avoid damaging the chassis.

  • Pick up the tweezers and peel the display connector strip away from the main circuit board.
  • Pick up the tweezers again and peel the USB connector strip away from the main circuit board.

Remove the antenna using either your fingers or tweezers.

Remove the top circuit board using a pair of tweezers.

  • If applicable, release any connected ribbon cable connectors from their sockets.
  • Be cautious not to damage the connectors or strip them from their sockets during removal.

Remove the back camera lens using tweezers.
