Samsung Galaxy Mega USB Board Replacement

This guide explains how to install a new charging port circuit board.

Step 1 | Battery

Ensure the device is completely turned off.

  • Locate the slot at the top left corner of the phone's back panel.
  • Insert a plastic opening tool or your fingernail into the slot and pull up on the back plate.
  • With one corner released, slide your finger around the device between the back plate and the phone to release the connectors.

Insert your fingernail into the slot on the bottom of the battery.

Gently pull up to avoid damaging the battery connector.

Remove the battery once it is free from its mounting position.

Remove 14 3.45 mm Phillips #000 screws from the assembly.

  • Gently insert a plastic opening tool or metal spudger (may cause exterior cosmetic damage) into the seam above the volume buttons.

Step 4

Slide a plastic opening tool slowly around the device to release internal connectors.

  • The device should easily come apart once the tool has been slid around its entire perimeter.
  • During reassembly, align the volume and power buttons properly.

Step 5 | USB Board

The circuit board is part of the charging port assembly.

Disconnect the connector by lifting up on the clamp with your finger.

  • Lift up on the clamp with your finger for the motherboard connection.
  • Grasp the cable head and lift it to disconnect.

Gently pry charging port loose with your fingertips.
