Samsung Galaxy Mega (SGH-M819N) Front Display Assembly Replacement

This repair requires advanced technical knowledge; if you're unfamiliar with the process from the title, proceed with caution.

  • Lace up protective gear and prepare for disassembly.
  • We will be replacing the Galaxy Mega's front LCD Assembly.

Step 1 | Remove battery and rear door.

Apply tape over the shattered screen to prevent injury and maintain unit integrity.

  • Flip the device over, then remove the battery door.
  • Afterwards, carefully take out the battery.

Step 2 | Remove Phillips Screws and Speaker componant.

Be cautious when handling electronic components.

  • Remove all 14 visible Phillips head screws using a screwdriver of the same type.
  • Pry off the speaker component slowly and carefully using your pry tool, taking care not to damage it.

Step 3 | Remove rear assembly frame

Use a pry tool to work around the phone, separating the rear assembly frame from the device.

  • Be aware that the frame may appear attached closer to the top, but refer to the image for guidance on where to separate, which is typically down to the middle of the device.
  • Continue to pry until the rear assembly frame is fully removed from the main device.

Step 4 | Remove the LCD Cable and the Front Camera

  • Lift the LCd flex cable off the logic board using a spudger or pry tool.
  • Remove the one screw, held in place by a Phillips screwdriver, securing the protection plate over the cameras.
  • Proceed to remove the front camera.

Step 5 | Using heat to soften the adhesive

Use a heat gun to warm the screen while using a pry tool to carefully work around the device.

  • Insert at least three guitar picks for separation, keeping them spaced apart as you progress.
  • The screen should slowly start lifting off.
  • Be careful when working on the bottom area to avoid damaging the back cable.

Step 6 | Remove bad LCD

Remove any debris or residue from the affected area.

  • Perform each step in the original sequence in reverse order.
