Samsung Galaxy Mega Rear Facing Camera Replacement

This guide describes the steps for replacing the rear-facing camera.

Step 1 | Battery

Ensure the device is completely turned off.

  • Locate the slot on the top left corner of the phone's back panel.
  • Insert a plastic opening tool or your fingernail into the slot and pull up to release the back plate.
  • Slide your finger around the device between the back plate and the phone to release connectors.

  • Push your fingertip into the battery release slot.

  • Gently pull upwards on the battery to avoid damage or injury.

  • Remove the battery from its housing.

Potential cosmetic damage: use a metal spudger at your own risk.

  • Remove the 14 x 3.45 mm Phillips #000 screws.
  • Insert a plastic opening tool into the seam above the volume buttons.

Step 4

Slide a plastic opening tool slowly around the device to release internal connectors.

  • The device should separate easily once the tool has been fully applied.
  • During reassembly, ensure proper alignment of volume and power buttons.

Step 5 | Motherboard

Remove the 2.55 mm Phillips #000 screw from the motherboard panel.

Disconnect the connector clips from the motherboard.

Disconnect and remove all motherboard connectors.

Disconnect all connectors shown in the pictures.

  • Lift the motherboard gently with your finger.
  • Remove six connectors from the motherboard.

Step 9 | Rear Facing Camera

Locate and disconnect the rear-facing camera connector on the motherboard.

Damage to the motherboard may result if the camera connector is not properly disconnected.

The camera module is now separated from the device.
