Samsung Galaxy Mega Front Facing Camera Replacement

This guide explains how to replace the front-facing camera.

Step 1 | Battery

Ensure the device is completely turned off.

  • Locate the slot in the top left corner of the phone's back.
  • Pry open the back plate using a plastic opening tool or your fingernail.
  • Release connectors by sliding your finger between the back plate and the device.

Insert fingernail into the slot on the bottom of the battery.

  • Pull up gently.
  • The battery will come out.

Step 3 | Midframe

Remove 14 3.45 mm Phillips #000 screws from assembly.

  • Gently, insert a plastic opening tool into the seam above the volume buttons.
  • Alternatively, use a metal spudger to begin separating the seam (risk of cosmetic damage).

Sliding a plastic opening tool slowly around the device will release internal connectors.

  • The device should easily come apart after completing this step.
  • During reassembly, verify that volume and power buttons are properly aligned.

Step 5 | Front Facing Camera

Remove the 2.55 mm Phillips #000 screw located at the top left of the motherboard assembly.

Remove the metal cover using a plastic opening tool.

Disconnect the motherboard connector

  • Lift up the motherboard connector.
  • Remove the camera assembly from the phone.
