Samsung Galaxy Mega Display Assembly Replacement

Replacing the LCD and digitizer in a Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 requires the following steps:

Step 1 | Remove Rear Cover

Use the opening tool or your fingernail to carefully pry the rear cover at the top left corner.

  • The rear cover can be removed to expose the SIM card, SD card, and screws.

Step 2 | SIM, SD, Screw and Battery Removal

Always power down the device via the OS before removing the battery.

  • Remove the back cover, then take out the battery,
  • along with the SIM card and SD card (if present),
  • and remove the highlighted PH000 screws from the rear of the phone.

Step 3 | Speaker Removal

Fragile components are prone to damage; handle with care.

  • Use the opening tool to gently pry the speaker upwards.
  • Once loose, remove the speaker from its mounting location.

Step 4 | Removal of Back Frame

  • Insert the pry tool along the side of the device and pry gently until you hear clicks.
  • Repeat this process along all sides of the phone, as the clicking sound indicates the frame is releasing.
  • Be gentle to avoid damaging the device's internal components.

  • Pull the battery clip up (refer to photo 2) and twist the frame clockwise to release a small clip around the camera.

Step 5 | Removing Ribbons

Use a opening tool to disconnect the LCD cable.

  • The motherboard and connectors will be exposed after removing the back frame.
  • Remove the front camera panel by unscrewing it.
  • Disconnect the front camera cable.

Step 6 | Adding some heat

Avoid damage to the back button and menu button.

  • Apply heat from a heat gun around the edges of the screen.
  • Insert three opening picks between the glass and the silver frame, excluding the bottom edge.

Step 7 | Removing screen

Insert opening picks into phone and lift screen toward you at an angle.

Do not pull screen off immediately — risk of damaging adhesive and components.

  • Place screen down with opening picks to keep it loose.
  • Apply heat to bottom edge to loosen adhesive from back and menu button.

When pulling screen, monitor the bottom for signs of buttons separating from adhesive.

Be extremely cautious when disconnecting button flex cables from screen — breaking these will require replacement of charging port assembly.

Step 8 | Final step screen is off

  • Ensure the buttons are fully detached from the adhesive.
  • Screen and bezel must be separated.
