This repair involves replacing a cracked or broken screen on your Samsung Galaxy M31.
If your phone's frame is deformed, consider replacing it to ensure proper screen mounting and prevent uneven pressure damage.
You'll need replacement adhesive for reassembly.
Insert a SIM card eject tool, SIM eject bit, or a straightened paper clip into the hole on the SIM tray located at the left side of the phone.
Press firmly, but do not force excessively to avoid damaging the tray.
Insert an opening pick between the phone assembly and the back cover at the bottom edge of the phone.
Insert a second opening pick into the gap at the bottom edge.
Insert the opening pick into the phone, sliding it along the left side of the device.
Be careful not to damage any internal components.
Use an opening pick to slide along the right edge of the phone.
This will help release the plastic clips holding the back cover in place.
The flex cable of the fingerprint sensor is prone to disconnection.
Before reassembling, power on your phone and test all functions with the back cover removed.
Remove seven Phillips #00 screws with a length of 3.9 mm.
Place the opening pick under the motherboard cover's top edge.
Use the flat end of a spudger to gently pry up the battery flex cable, then disconnect it.
Remove the eight Phillips #00 screws, each with a length of 3.9mm.
Remove the loudspeaker.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to pry up the display flex connector from the midframe.
Apply a iOpener to the screen and heat it for at least 2 minutes to loosen the adhesive.
Warm up the screen by using the phone.
Remove opening pick carefully before reassembling — excess adhesive may cause issues.
Leave both picks in place to prevent re-adhesion.
Re-heat the iOpener and reapply if cutting is too difficult.
Insert a fourth opening pick at the top left corner.
Slide the opening pick along the top edge to cut the adhesive. Leave the pick in the top right corner of the screen.
Insert a fifth opening pick and slide it along the right edge of the phone.
Try not to remove the display all the way yet, as it is still held onto the midframe by adhesive beneath its center.
Heat the iOpener and apply it to the screen's center.
Slide a plastic card under the right edge of the screen.
Be careful not to remove the display completely, as the cable is still threaded through the frame and may be stuck on the inner side of the midframe.
Locate the midframe's gap for the display flex cable.
Compare your new replacement part with the original part, noting any differences in remaining components or adhesive backings that may require removal or reattachment.
