Samsung Galaxy J7 Screen Assembly Replacement

Handling delicate components requires care to avoid damage.

  • Ensure the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2015) is turned off before starting.
  • Work in a clean, static-free environment for best results.

Step 1 | Back Cover

Locate the tab, highlighted by a red square at the top left corner of the back cover.

  • Insert the tool, such as a fingernail or a plastic opening tool, to lift the tab gently.
  • Pry open the cover carefully working around the edges to remove it completely.
  • Do not force it open, use a plastic opening tool to avoid scratching the case if stuck.

Step 2 | Battery

Ensure the battery is disconnected from the motherboard to avoid electric shock.

  • Locate the battery slot, identified by a small red square at the bottom right corner of the battery.
  • Gently pop out the edge and carefully pull out the battery.

Step 3 | Midframe

Use the Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the 10 4.2 mm screws surrounding the midframe.

Insert the iFixit opening tool under the back of the device and pry upwards.

  • Disconnect the back from the front.

If stuck, use a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the adhesive at the edges.

Step 5 | Screen Assembly

Use a plastic pry tool to carefully lift the speaker piece, which is lightly adhered.

  • Lift the speaker piece gently using the plastic pry tool.
  • Disconnect the cable from the speaker piece.

Locate the motor tab and gently lift it upwards.

  • Completely remove the motor from the panel to disconnect it.
  • Removing the motor provides easier access to the screen assembly for replacement.
  • Handle the motor and its connectors with care to avoid damage.

Step 7

  • Reattach the old parts in reverse order of how they were removed.
  • Verify the new phone screen is securely attached before proceeding.
    • Test for touch responsiveness by tapping on various areas of the screen.
    • Check display quality to ensure there are no visual issues or defects.
