Step 1 | Back Cover

Do not force the cover open, as this may scratch the case.

  • Locate the tab at the top left corner of the back cover, highlighted by a red square.
  • Gently lift the tab using a fingernail or a plastic opening tool.
  • Pry open the cover carefully around its edges to completely remove it.

Step 2 | Midframe

Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the ten 4.2 mm screws located along the edge of the midframe.

  • Remove all ten screws.

Use the iFixit opening tool to lift up the back of the device.

  • Disconnect the back from the front once lifted.

If the panel is stubborn, use a hair dryer or heat gun to gently heat the edges and soften the adhesive.

Step 4 | Front Facing Camera

Remove the screw at the back using a suitable driver.

  • This is the only screw required for removal.
  • The rest of the piece will come off without further disassembly.

Ensure all components are retrieved prior to removing the subsequent part.

  • Pull out the wire harness.
  • Extract the plastic cover.
  • Remove the molded trim.

Separate the blue/green component from the black component. It should release easily.

  • The green/blue piece will be needed for the next step, as shown in the second picture.

Flip the component over by 180 degrees.

  • Remove the boxed out part, which contains the front-facing camera.
