Samsung Galaxy J7 V Rear Camera Replacement

  • Verify that you have all required tools and sufficient time for this procedure.

Step 1 | Screen

The OLED display is extremely delicate, risk of damage.

  • Position a Jimmy tool under a corner of the display.
  • Gently lift the display to dislodge it from its housing.

Slide a Jimmy tool gently around the phone's entire edge.

Fragile ribbon cables connect the display.

  • Lift the display carefully to avoid damaging its connections.
  • Remove the display from the device once it's loose.

Step 4 | Home button

Locate the home button socket.

  • Fit a metal spudger into the socket, with one end between the socket and the home button.

  • Insert the metal spudger under the home button.
  • Lift up to release the home button from its socket.

Step 6 | Remove the backing

  • Hold the phone face down and locate the indented edge on the right side.
  • Lift the backing off the case, starting from the right side.

Step 7 | Remove the battery

Lift the battery from the bottom side to begin removal.

  • Continue to lift until the battery is fully removed.

Step 8 | Motherboard

Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove 14 screws from the miframe.

Flip the phone over so that the rear is facing upwards.

  • Midframe will be loose, use your hands to apply gentle pressure and release it completely.

Flip the phone back over.

  • Remove the single black screw from the motherboard using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
  • Place several iFixit opening picks beneath the motherboard.
  • Spread the opening picks evenly around the motherboard to prevent bending.
  • Lift the motherboard using the iFixit opening picks.

Step 11 | Rear Camera

Use tweezers to detach the tab securing the rear camera.

  • Pull the camera away from the motherboard using your fingers.
