Step 1 | Display Assembly

Use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm up the front edges of the phone for 2 minutes.

Keep about 6 inches from the screen to avoid damaging the phone.

  • Maintain a continuous motion when heating the edges, rather than applying heat to one spot for too long.
  • Avoid holding heat on any one edge for more than a few seconds.

Avoid applying excessive force when prying with a tool.

  • Insert a pry tool or plastic card between glass and frame while adhesive is still warm and flexible.
  • Slowly slide another pry tool around edges to break adhesive's bond.

Do not insert more than 1cm into top edge to avoid damaging cables.

Loosen the display edges gently, but do not remove it from the frame yet.

  • Lift the lower side of the screen and loosen all edges.

Use a prying tool to gently pry up the bottom right corner of the cable guard.

  • This should expose a thin ribbon cable connector.

  • Pry up the ribbon cable connector exposed underneath the cable guard.
  • Remove the display assembly from the device.
  • Clean all phone edges thoroughly to prevent reassembly issues.

  • Reassemble the phone with the new screen in place.
