Samsung Galaxy J3 Eclipse Audio Jack Replacement

Step 1 | Battery

Place the phone with the screen facing downwards.

Locate the small indentation on the right side edge.

  • Pull upwards on the indentation to release.
  • The back panel should now be removable.

Locate the battery holder below the bottom right corner.

Use your fingertip to carefully remove it.

Step 4 | Display Assembly

Apply heat to the phone's front edges using a heat gun or hair dryer, keeping approximately 6 inches away from the screen.

  • Heat for about 2 minutes in continuous motion, moving around all edges of the phone.
  • Avoid applying heat to one edge for more than a few seconds at a time.

Damage to internal components may occur if excessive force is applied.

  • Insert a pry tool or plastic card between the glass display and phone frame, taking care not to press too hard.
  • Sweep another pry tool around all edges, working slowly and gently to break adhesive bond.
  • Avoid inserting tools more than 1cm into top edge to prevent damaging fragile cables.

Loosen the display by lifting the lower edge and working your way around the edges.

  • Lift the lower side of the display to start loosening the edges.
  • Continue working around the edges, but do not completely remove the display from the frame at this time.

Locate the cable guard and use a prying tool to gently lift the bottom right corner.

  • The ribbon cable connector will be exposed.

Pry up the ribbon cable connector exposed beneath the cable guard.

  • Remove the display unit from the device.

Clean any residue from the phone edges before reassembling with the new screen.

Step 9 | Audio Jack

  • Locate and count the 11 screws holding the metal plate in place.
  • Remove all screws using a PH00 screwdriver bit.
  • Note these screws for reassembly purposes.

Hold the phone firmly with one hand.

  • Flip the phone over so that the back is facing up.
  • Using your thumbs, push on the metal area where the battery was located.

The back frame may still be slightly attached; apply gentle but firm pressure to release it completely.

Careful not to damage the blue ribbon cable or its connector.

  • Locate the blue ribbon cable attached below the battery slot.
  • Use a pry tool to release the cable from the motherboard.
