Step 1 | Remove The Battery

Locate the back panel and its corresponding removal point at the lower right corner.

  • Remove the back panel using a suitable tool, taking care not to damage surrounding components.
  • Disconnect the battery connector and gently lift out the battery, being mindful of the dimple on its bottom edge.

Locate the panel connector on the back of the device.

  • Since it's situated near the panel, no screws are required for removal.
  • When cutting out the old screen, be mindful that this connector is at the top edge.
  • To preserve the old screen as a spare, avoid the top edge while slicing adhesive.

Step 3 | Prepare the old screen for removal

If your device has a cracked screen, apply packing tape around it to secure loose glass and create a stable surface.

  • Remove any existing screen protectors.

Step 4 | Applying Heat

Apply even heat using an iOpener, heatgun, or similar tool.

  • Heat the device until it is warm to the touch.
  • Avoid focusing on a single spot for too long.
  • Goal: weaken adhesive bond, not overheat device.

Step 5 | Working along the bottom

Use a suction cup to pry up near the bottom of the screen, creating a good gap.

  • Insert an opening pick into the gap, being mindful of the home button.
  • Be careful not to go too deep near the capacitive buttons.
  • Add another opening pick and position them on opposing corners.

Step 6 | Working along the sides

Work from both edges towards the center, keeping the top cable in mind.

  • Hold your pick at a downward angle to access space below the screen.
  • The display is shielded; you won't damage components behind it.

Step 7 | Getting the top of the display

Do not damage the display cable — risk of costly repair.

  • Use a pick to gently work around the top edge (no deeper than 3mm) to clear the display cable.

Disregard this step if you plan to replace the screen with a new one.

  • Reheat and carefully sever remaining adhesive along the top bezel, but do not go deeper than 5mm.

Step 8 | Remove the display

Apply heat near the top of the display again.

  • Open the phone from the bottom to the top.
  • Leave the top edge of the old screen's connector hanging off, as it is too short to remove completely.

Take care not to damage the cable.

Step 9 | Removing the Connector

Use an opening tool to remove the shield covering the press-fit connector.

  • Pry out the press-fit connector using a spudger.
