Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Battery Replacement

Power off the Samsung Galaxy J3 before starting this procedure. If the battery is swollen, take necessary precautions.

  • Remove and replace the battery pack as outlined in this guide.

For optimal performance, calibrate the new battery: charge to 100%, then keep charging for at least 2 more hours. Use until shutdown due to low power, then charge uninterrupted to 100%.

Step 1 | Rear Cover

Locate the small divot beside the rear-facing camera.

  • Insert a fingernail or the flat end of a spudger into the divot and gently pry the rear cover away from the phone.
  • The plastic clips will release once the cover is completely separated.

Remove the rear cover.

  • To reinstall, align the rear cover to the back of the phone.
  • Squeeze the perimeter to snap all clips into place.

Be gentle when prying the battery pack to avoid damage.

  • Insert a fingernail or the flat end of a spudger into the divot below the battery pack.
  • Pry the battery pack out of its recess.
  • Do not apply excessive force, which can puncture the battery pack.

Remove the battery pack.
