Samsung Galaxy J1 Volume Button Replacement

This guide helps replace the Samsung Galaxy J1's volume button.

Step 1 | Midframe

Insert a finger nail or plastic opening tool between the back cover and the device.

  • Gently pry the rear cover off the back of the phone.

Insert your finger into the SIM card slot to gently pull it downward.

  • Continue to pull until the SIM card is completely removed from its slot.
  • The device shown in the picture has already had the SIM card and battery removed.

Step 3

Remove the eleven 3 mm screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Be careful not to crack the glass screen or damage internal clips.

  • Insert a plastic opening tool between the screen and back of the device.
  • Gently slide the tool along the edges, starting at the bottom.
  • Pry the main assembly from the midframe, taking care to avoid damage.

Step 5 | Volume Button

Insert the flat edge of a spudger and gently push the volume button outward.

Secure the volume button in place with your fingers before removal.

  • Remove the volume button.
