Samsung Galaxy J1 Rear Camera Replacement

This guide provides instructions for replacing your device's Rear Camera.

Step 1 | Midframe

Insert a finger nail or plastic opening tool between the back cover and the device.

  • Pry gently at an angle, working your way around the edge to release the rear cover.

Be careful when handling electronics.

  • Use your fingers to gently push the SIM card down from its slot.
  • The SIM card should now be removable.
  • Remove the SIM card.

Remove the eleven 3 mm screws with a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Careful when prying with a plastic tool to avoid damaging the glass screen or breaking internal clips.

  • Insert a plastic opening tool between the screen and midframe of the device.
  • Gently slide the tool along the edges of the screen, starting at the bottom of the device.
  • Pry the main assembly from the midframe with gentle pressure to avoid damage.

Step 5 | Rear Camera

Disconnect the ear speaker connector from the motherboard using the flat end of a spudger.

Use the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the digitizer connector from the motherboard.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry under the motherboard.
  • Remove the motherboard.

Disconnect the rear camera from the motherboard using the flat end of a spudger.

Remove the disconnected rear camera.
