Samsung Galaxy J1 Motherboard Replacement

Do not touch the capacitor terminals — risk of electric shock.

  • Remove the motherboard using a screwdriver.
  • Disconnect the battery connector.
  • Locate and remove the antenna cables.
  • Do not touch the glass screen during this step.

    Remove the digital board.
  • Install the new motherboard and reconnect all removed components.

Step 1 | Midframe

Insert a plastic spudger between the back cover and the device.

  • Gently pry the rear cover off the back of the phone.

Locate the SIM card slot.

  • Use your fingertips to pull the SIM card down from its slot.
  • The SIM card should now be exposed and removable.

The device is missing a SIM card and requires reinstallation. Ensure you have the correct replacement part before proceeding.

Remove the SIM card.

Remove the eleven 3 mm screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  • Insert a plastic opening tool between the screen and back panel.
  • Gently slide the tool along the edges of the screen, starting at the bottom.
  • When removing the main assembly, be careful not to crack the glass screen or break clips.

  • Pry the main assembly gently from the midframe.

Disconnect the ear speaker connector with the flat edge of a spudger.

Disconnect the digitizer connector with the flat end of a spudger.

Disconnect the front-facing camera cable using the flat end of a spudger.

Disconnect and remove the front-facing camera.

Step 9

Use the flat end of a spudger to carefully pry underneath the motherboard.

  • Be cautious not to damage any surrounding components.

  • Once loose, lift and remove the motherboard.

Disconnect the rear camera cable connector using the flat end of a spudger.

Disconnect the rear camera cable.

Remove the rear camera module from its mounting bracket.
