Step 1 | Battery

Use a blue plastic opening tool to lift up on the back cover tab.

  • Continue to pry along the edge of the back cover until it is completely removed.

Step 2 | Remove the battery.

Avoid touching the battery terminals — risk of corrosion.

  • Lift up on the thumb tab to remove the old battery.
  • Periodically clean the brass terminals with ISO and a Q-tip:
    • Clean both the battery and phone connections.

Step 3 | Midframe

Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the nine 4mm screws from the midframe.

  • Insert the blue plastic opening tool into the gap between the front and side panels.
  • Migrate the blue plastic opening tool along the edges, separating the front and side panels.

Step 5

Detach the mid-frame from both sides, including the interior.

Step 6 | Digitizer and LCD

Disconnect all flex cables.

  • Remove the motherboard and front-facing camera.
  • The display assembly is attached to the frame with adhesive.

Apply caution when handling adhesive, as it can leave residue.

  • Insert an opening pick between the glass and frame in the gap above the front-facing camera bracket.
  • Slice through the adhesive on the top bezel of the phone.

Step 7

Locate the right corner of the device.

  • Gently twist the pick up and down to further separate the adhesive in this area.
  • Insert the pick as shown between the LCD and the frame.

Risk of screen damage from improper insertion.

  • Insert a second pick into the gap between the frame and the display flex cable.
  • Move both picks towards the bottom of the phone to separate the adhesive on the sides of the screen.

Step 8

Ensure the pick is positioned above the home button to prevent damage.

  • Apply heat to the bottom bezel.
  • Insert a pick between the frame and the digitizer, taking care to avoid the home button.
  • The home button may become dislodged.

Step 9 | Removing the screen assembly

Separate the adhesive on the bottom half of the phone.

  • Flip the phone around and separate the from the screen assembly, starting from the bottom.
  • Makes sure the display cable can freely move through the hole in the frame.

The ear speaker grille may fall out during this process.

Step 10 | Separating the LCD and digitizer

Do not damage the flex cable or IC.

  • Flip up the bottom half of the connector holding the flex cable.
  • Apply gentle heat to the IC, then insert a pick as shown and separate.

For separation:

  • Apply gentle heat to the front of the assembly.
  • Insert picks along the edges of the LCD and gently slide them apart.
