Samsung Galaxy Express 3 Home Button Replacement

Replacing the home button requires removing the screen.

Step 1 | Battery

Identify the indent area marked in red.

  • Gently pry the back off using either your fingernail or a Prying Tool (such as a guitar pick) to separate it from the body.

Do not use metal tools to lift the battery.

  • Remove the cover and locate the SAMSUNG battery.
  • Lift the bottom indent of the battery using your fingernail or a Plastic Prying Tool, such as a guitar pick.

Step 3 | Screen

Use a plastic prying tool to gently pry out the indicated part.

Disconnect the screen connector.

Failure to heat the screen may result in a broken screen and/or LCD.

  • Apply heat to the screen using a blow dryer or heating pad for several minutes.
  • The heat loosens the adhesive holding the screen in place, allowing for easier removal.

Careful handling required to avoid damaging the screen.

  • Use a Plastic Prying Tool or Thin Plastic Tool (guitar pick) to lift out the glass digitizer and LCD screen.
  • Lift slowly around the edges, taking care not to apply too much pressure.

Use only a plastic tool to avoid damaging the screen — metal tools may cause damage.

Step 7 | Back and Recent Apps Touch Sensor Button(s)

Remove circuit buttons using a plastic tool, not a metal one, to avoid damage to your phone.

Never use a metal tool as it may cause electrical shock and damage the device.

Step 8 | Home Button

  • Remove the four screws from the black plastic surround using a #0 Phillips bit screwdriver.
  • These identical-sized screws are located around the home button.

Do not use a metal tool, as it poses a risk of damage to the motherboard.

  • Use a sharp, non-metallic tool like a guitar pick or prying tool to carefully lift and remove the black plastic piece.

Step 10

Locate the black component.

  • Slightly bend the black component.
  • Pull the white button away from it until it comes out.
