Samsung Galaxy Attain 4G Speaker/Rear Camera Replacement

Removing the wrong part can cause damage to your phone — be sure you have the correct component before proceeding.

  • Remove the speaker/rear camera assembly from the Samsung Galaxy Attain 4G.
  • This assembly includes the vibrator, rear-facing camera, flash, and loudspeaker.

Step 1 | Placement

Turn the device over and place the screen face-down on a stable surface.

Step 2 | Battery Door Removal

Be careful when prying off the battery door as it may break.

  • notch at the top of the device.
  • priy tool or your fingernail to pry off the battery door.

Step 3 | Battery Removal

Remove the battery door and set it aside.

  • Pry the battery upwards using a pry tool or your finger.
  • The battery is now removed.

Step 4 | Heads Up!

The battery must be installed with the arrow on its bottom surface pointing downwards.

Step 5 | Screw Removal

Remove the six Phillips head screws securing the rear housing.

Step 6 | Prying

Use a spudger or plastic pry tool to gently release the clips between the display and rear housing.

  • Start at one corner and work your way slowly around the phone.
  • Apply even pressure to avoid damaging the phone's casing.

Step 7 | Remove Housing

Remove the rear housing from the display assembly.

Step 8 | Logic Board

Use the spudger to disconnect the headphone jack flex cable.

Use a spudger/plastic pry tool to disconnect the rear speaker flex cable.

Step 10

Remove the vibration motor using a spudger or pry tool, taking care to overcome the mild adhesive securing it at the base.

Do not attempt to fully remove the logic board yet.

  • Remove both flex cables.
  • Slowly move the logic board left, towards the screen assembly.

Step 12

Disconnect the LCD/Digitizer flex cable using a spudger/plastic pry tool.

Verify the logic board has been successfully separated from the display assembly.

Step 14 | Remove Flex Cable

Flip the logic board over so that it faces away from you.

  • Use a spudger/plastic pry tool to carefully disconnect the rear camera flex cable.

Step 15

  • Flip the logic board to the front.
  • Use a spudger/plastic pry tool to push the tension clip away from the board, freeing the speaker/rear camera.

Step 16

Careful not to damage the ribbon cable.

  • Lift and remove the speaker/rear camera assembly from the right side.
  • Carefully disconnect the speaker/rear camera cable connector.

Step 17

Remove the speaker/rear camera module from the PCB.
