Samsung Galaxy Alpha Rear Camera Replacement

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha rear camera needs replacement if cracked or malfunctioning.

Step 1 | Motherboard

Locate the side slot on the back of the phone, positioned to the left of the camera when viewed upright.

  • Insert a iFixit opening pick or equivalent tool into the gap and slide it towards the top to separate the back panel from the body.
  • Alternatively, use your fingers to create vertical separation if no tool is available.

Power down the phone.

  • Find the slot at the battery housing's base.
  • Lift the battery up and out using an iFixit opening pick or your hand.

  • Remove the 12 3.0 mm screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
  • Set aside the removed screws for reinstallation later.

Flip the phone over, with the screen facing up.

  • Insert the flat blade of the halberd spudger between the screen and body.
  • Lift the screen upward and outward to remove it.

Flip the phone over so that the back case is facing up.

  • Insert the hook of the halberd spudger into the gaps on the side of the battery housing.
  • Pry upward until there is separation between the back case and the main phone body.
  • Completely separate and remove the back case using your fingers or a prying tool.

Remove the three 3.0 mm screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver. Set them aside securely.

Check if the pin connector tabs came loose; use a spudger to secure them.

  • Lift the motherboard with the spudger, separating it from the phone case.

Remove the motherboard by lifting it gently with your hands or a plastic spudger.

Step 9 | Rear Camera

Use a spudger to disconnect the rear camera from the motherboard.
