Samsung Galaxy Alpha Front Camera Replacement

Step 1 | Removing the Back Panel

Locate the top left slot on the back panel, next to the flashlight.

  • Insert a fingernail or prying tool into the slot and gently lift up to slightly open the top left corner.
  • Slide the fingernail or prying tool around the outer edge of the back panel to fully release it.

Step 2 | Battery

Ensure device is powered down.

  • Replace battery with new unit including NFC antenna.
  • Locate slot at base of old battery near phone's base.
  • Push thumb into slot and gently pry battery out, moving it away from the phone.

Step 3 | Display Assembly

Locate the flashlight slot.

  • Insert a fingertip or prying tool into the slot.
  • Lift around the perimeter, being gentle, to remove the back panel.

Step 4

Power down your device.

  • The new battery must have an NFC antenna, as it is included with the original battery.
  • Locate the slot at the base of the battery.

Push up and lift out carefully to avoid damaging the device or the battery.

Step 5 | Remove Screws Holding Back Case

Do not perform this step for screen replacement alone.

  • Remove the JIS #000 screwdriver's twelve 3mm screws surrounding the phone's back using it.

Step 6 | Use iOpener To Heat Adhesive

Heat the iOpener in a microwave for 30 seconds.

  • Place the iOpener on the front screen, adjusting it to ensure even heating of all areas.
  • Repeat heating cycles as necessary, until the entire screen is thoroughly heated.

More heat cycles may be required for easier removal.

Step 7 | Use an Opening Pick to Pry Off the Screen

Do not press on the back of the phone while lifting the screen — this may cause cracks.

  • Ensure the adhesive is thoroughly heated before attempting to pry off the screen.
  • Work carefully when removing the adhesive from the bottom section, avoiding the connections under the menu buttons.
  • Slide an opening pick around the perimeter of the glass, being mindful not to push it too far under the screen.

Prise the screen upward and lift off.

  • Lift only the top section of the screen.
  • This will help avoid damaging the button connections on the phone's bottom.

Step 9 | Remove Inner Back Panel

Locate the plastic clips on either side of the battery slot.

  • Use a Plastic Opening Tool to release the clips by pulling upwards inside the plastic crevasse.
  • Hold the gap open with one tool while using another to maintain tension and separate the two pieces.

Step 10

Remove the two 3mm screws with a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  • Apply gentle pressure with your fingers or a Metal Tweezer to lift each connector.
  • Pry up each of the four connectors as indicated in the diagram.

Remove the final blue-cabled connector.

Locate the blue component's terminal edge, as depicted in the diagram.

  • Lift the top section of the part upward at a gentle angle to separate it from the surrounding casing.

Step 14

Locate the front camera on the upper part of the device.

  • Apply gentle pressure using a tool or your finger to release the camera from its housing.
