A PH00 screwdriver is necessary for this repair. You may also require a metal and plastic spudger, but strong fingernails can be used as a substitute if one is not available.
Received a damaged phone from a friend.
Replace the digitiser to fix the cracked display, no monetary reward is guaranteed or implied.
Identify the small hole on the left side of the phone, just below the volume rocker.
Use a fingernail to gently pry the battery casing open.
Locate the battery compartment.
You may need to apply some force, but do not overdo it as this could damage the plastic or internal components.
Do not attempt to remove the motherboard yet.
Locate the power button connector on the side of the device and gently spudge it off with a plastic tool.
Do not pull the motherboard away from the display housing yet!
You do not need to disconnect the ribbon cable connecting the speaker and headphone jack assembly if you are only replacing the digitiser.
Locate the side of the display chassis without the white plastic covering.
Disconnecting any camera modules first will make them easier to access later if needed.
The Thin Film Transistor housing is now exposed.
Flip the black tab on the ribbon cable upwards to the right.
Gently pull the ribbon cable out to disconnect it.
Caution: Excessive heat can damage screen components.
When using a spudger, always drag it towards the glass, not towards the metal body, to avoid scratching the TFT.
Carefully pull the ribbon cable connector through the slot.
Be cautious of snagging on parts.
If replacing the digitiser, proceed with usual care despite its resilience.
