Samsung Galaxy A8(2018) Back Cover Replacement

Opening the phone will compromise its water resistance, risking water damage and rendering it non-waterproof.

  • Replace the waterproof seals with new adhesive gaskets when reinstalling the back cover.
  • You may need additional replacement adhesive for proper reassembly.

Turn off your phone.

  • Prepare an iOpener or hair dryer to soften the adhesive on the back of the A8.
  • The adhesive is distributed over the outline shown in red in the photo.

Use a suction cup to lift the back cover.

  • Insert an opening pick into the slot created.
  • Start in the middle and cut the adhesive, maintaining tension on the suction cup.
  • If it becomes increasingly difficult, reheat the iOpener or use a hair dryer.

Leave a pick at each corner after freeing it.

  • Repeat for all four corners.

Do not force the cover open — risk of damage to the fingerprint reader connector and back cover warping.

  • Re-soften the adhesive with an iOpener or hair dryer if the back cover does not come off.

Be cautious when opening the back cover to avoid damaging the fingerprint reader connector.

Disconnect it following the instructions in the next step.

Remove the fingerprint reader using tweezers.

Remove the back cover.

  • Use a spudger to remove remaining adhesive from the phone.
  • Clean the surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
