Samsung Galaxy A70 Battery Replacement

If your battery is swollen, take necessary precautions to avoid injury.

  • Discharge battery below 25% to prevent thermal risk if damaged during repair.
  • Replace a dead or worn-out battery with a new one in your Galaxy A70.
  • Purchase replacement adhesive for reattaching components when reassembling the phone.

Step 1 | Eject the SIM tray

Insert a SIM eject tool, SIM eject bit, or a straightened paperclip into the hole on the SIM tray located at the left edge of the phone.

  • Press firmly to eject the tray.
  • Remove it once ejected.

Step 2 | Soften the adhesive

Switch off your Galaxy A70.

  • Use an iOpener to soften the adhesive beneath the back cover for at least two minutes, repeating as necessary.
  • Caution: Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but be careful not to overheat your phone (AMOLED display and internal battery are susceptible to heat damage).

Step 3 | Create a gap

Place a suction cup at the right edge's center, closest to the phone's rear.

  • Pull the suction cup to create a gap between the back cover and frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 4 | Slice the adhesive

  • Slide the opening pick along the edge to the bottom right corner.
  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.
  • Do not remove the suction cup, use it for a better grip during removal or leave it in place.

Insert a second opening pick under the bottom right corner of the back cover.

  • Slide it along the edge to the top right corner.
  • If cutting is difficult, use the iOpener again to soften the adhesive.

Leave the opening picks in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Insert a third opening pick underneath the top right corner of the back cover.

  • Slide the tip of the opening pick along the top edge of the phone to cut the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in the top left corner to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Insert a Y000 opening pick under the top left corner.

  • Slide it down along the left edge, cutting the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick in place to keep the adhesive loose.

Place the fifth opening pick at the bottom left corner, then slide it along the bottom edge to loosen the remaining adhesive.

  • Position the pick in the specified area.
  • Gently move the pick towards the right along the bottom edge.

Step 9 | Remove the back cover

Risk of damage if improper installation methods are used.

  • Remove the back cover.
  • Allow several minutes for the adhesive to form a good bond by applying strong, steady pressure to the phone. A stack of heavy books can be used as support.

Step 10 | Unscrew the midframe

Remove the midframe by unscrewing its fourteen 4.0 mm screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

Step 11 | Insert an opening pick

Locate the plastic clips holding the midframe in place.

  • Insert a credit card or similar tool between the midframe and front panel assembly on the right edge of the phone, near the volume button.

Step 12 | Detach the plastic clips

Slide the opening pick to the bottom right corner.

This should detach the plastic clips.

Slide the opening from the bottom right corner to the bottom left corner to release the plastic clips.

Slide the opening pick along the left edge to release the plastic clips.

Step 15 | Remove the midframe

Remove the midframe.

Step 16 | Disconnect the battery

Disconnect the battery using a spudger, prying the connector straight up from its socket.

Step 17 | Disconnect the interconnect cable

Disconnect the interconnect cable from the motherboard using a spudger.

  • Pry the connector straight up from its socket.

Step 18 | Disconnect the interconnect cable

Disconnect the interconnect cable from the daughterboard using a spudger.

  • Pry the connector straight up from its socket.
  • Remove the interconnect cable.

Step 19 | Apply adhesive remover

Apply adhesive remover or high-concentration (90% or higher) isopropyl alcohol into the gap at the bottom edge of the battery.

  • Lift the phone up to tilt it towards the rear facing camera, allowing the adhesive remover to spread underneath the battery.
  • Allow the adhesive remover to penetrate the battery adhesive for at least 1 minute before proceeding.

Step 20 | Pry up the battery

Avoid deforming the battery as excessive force or damage can cause leaks, fires, or explosions.

  • Insert a plastic card under the bottom edge of the battery.
  • Slide it carefully to loosen the adhesive.
  • Pry up the battery using the plastic card and continue sliding until removed.

If still stuck, reapply adhesive remover as needed.

Step 21 | Remove the battery

Remove the battery.

Do not reinstall a damaged or deformed battery; it poses a potential safety hazard.

  • Before installing a new battery, remove any remaining adhesive from the phone.
  • Clean the glued areas with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
