Before proceeding, check troubleshooting pages to confirm a new motherboard is needed.

Completely power off your phone and remove the SIM card holder.

Secure a suction handle to an edge of the back cover, as close to the edge as possible.

  • If the back cover is cracked, try lifting it with strong tape or superglueing the suction handle in place and allowing it to cure.
  • Lift the back cover with the suction handle to create a small gap between the back cover and the frame.
  • It may take several attempts, so be prepared. If you have trouble creating a gap, apply more heat, following the iOpener instructions carefully to avoid overheating.

  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.
  • Slide the opening pick along the side of the phone to slice the adhesive; leave it in place to prevent resealing.
