Samsung Galaxy A50 Screen Replacement

Discharging the battery below 25% will minimize the risk of explosion or fire in case it's accidentally punctured during repair.

  • Verify you have the correct replacement screen, which may be pre-installed in a new frame (chassis) for some models.
  • Before disassembling, make sure to discharge the battery below 25%.
  • Gather replacement adhesive for reattaching components during reassembly.

Step 1 | Samsung Galaxy A50 SIM Tray Replacement

Insert a SIM card eject tool, SIM eject bit or straightened paper clip into the hole on the SIM tray.

  • Press firmly to eject the tray.
  • Remove the SIM card tray.
  • When reinserting, ensure correct orientation of cards in the tray.

Step 2 | Back Cover

Switch off your phone.

Be cautious of overheating, as it can damage the AMOLED display and internal battery.

  • Apply an iOpener to the back cover and let it soften the adhesive.
  • If necessary, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate for additional heating.

Insert an opening pick at the bottom of your phone near the USB-C port.

  • If necessary, use a suction handle or strong tape to pull up the back cover and create a gap.
  • Slide the opening pick to the bottom left corner.

Insert a second opening pick and slide it from the bottom up to the top left corner to cut the adhesive.

Apply more heat if needed, following iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

  • Leave the opening picks in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Insert a third opening pick under the top left corner of the back cover.

  • Slide the opening pick along the top edge of the phone.
  • Leave it in place to prevent resealing of adhesive, or remove it if you're done with this step.

Insert a fourth opening pick under the top right corner of the back cover.

  • Slide the tip along the side of the phone, cutting the adhesive at the bottom right corner.
  • Leave the pick in place to prevent resealing.

Remove the back cover.

  • Install the back cover securely.
  • Avoid moving the device for several minutes to ensure a strong bond.
  • To aid in adhesion, place a stack of heavy books on top of the phone and apply steady pressure.

Step 8 | Midframe

Remove all Phillips #00 screws with a length of 4 mm.

  • There are 13 screws to remove in total.

Insert a pick into the gap between the display and midframe below the USB-C port.

  • Slide the pick along the bottom edge to release the clips.

Slide the pick along the left edge of the phone until the clips are released.

  • Apply gentle pressure on the pick as you move it.
  • Continue sliding the pick along the edge to ensure all clips are released.

Slide the opening pick along the top edge of the device.

Guide the opening pick down the right edge, directing it towards the lower right corner.

Remove all midframe clips to ensure a smooth disassembly.

  • Release all clips using a spudger.
  • Carefully lift the midframe away from the phone.

Step 14 | Battery Disconnect

Disconnect the battery connector by prying it straight up with a spudger.

Step 15 | Front Camera

Disconnect the front camera connector with a spudger, prying it straight up from its socket.

Use a tweezers to carefully lift out the camera.

Step 17 | Screen

Use the flat end of a spudger to carefully pry up and disconnect the interconnect and display flex cable from the daughterboard.

  • Bend both cables out of the way.

Use the tip of a spudger to gently release the display connector near the daughterboard.

Heat an iOpener and apply it to the display for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

  • Attach a suction handle near the right edge of the display and pull steadily with firm force for 30 seconds.
  • Optional: If the screen is cracked, try securing the suction handle with strong tape or superglue to ensure it sticks securely.

Reheat the iOpener and reapply it to the display for approximately one minute.

  • Pull the suction cup upwards and carefully insert an opening pick into the gap between the display and the frame, only inserting about 2 mm.

  • Slide the opening pick to the bottom right corner.
  • Hold it in place to prevent re-adhesion of the adhesive.

Insert a second opening pick at the top right corner of the phone.

  • Use it to cut the adhesive, then leave it in place to prevent resealing.

Insert a third opening pick and slide it to the top-left corner.

  • Leave the picks in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.
  • If cutting becomes too difficult, reheat and reapply the iOpener.

  • Insert a fourth opening pick into the top left corner.
  • Move the pick down to the bottom left corner, using it to break the adhesive bond.
  • Leave the pick in place to prevent re-adhesion of the adhesive.

Insert fifth opening pick, sliding it along phone's bottom edge to cut remaining adhesive.

  • Keep pick insertion depth at approximately 2 mm to prevent component damage.

  • Apply heat from an iOpener to the display.
  • Wait while noting the location and shape of the rectangular adhesive on the screen's rear.

Insert a plastic card into the loosened left edge of the phone.

  • Press the card in and slide it back and forth until you cut through the entire adhesive.
  • Once the adhesive is cut, remove the four opening picks from the corners.

Lift the screen from the top edge of the phone.

  • Thread the display cable carefully through the frame.
  • Remove the screen.
