Samsung Galaxy A50 Battery Replacement

Discharge your battery below 25% and take precautions if it's swollen to prevent a thermal event.

  • Purchase a replacement battery.
  • You'll also need adhesive strips for reassembly.

Step 1 | Samsung Galaxy A50 SIM Tray Replacement

Insert a SIM eject tool, SIM eject bit, or a straightened paper clip into the hole on the SIM tray at the left side of the phone.

Press firmly to avoid damaging the tray.

  • Remove the SIM card tray once ejected.
  • Properly orient the cards when reinserting them into the tray.

Risk of heat damage to AMOLED display and internal battery.

  • Switch off your phone to prevent accidental powering on during repairs.
  • Apply the iOpener to the back cover to soften the adhesive, or use alternative heat sources like a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate if needed.

Insert an opening pick at the bottom of your phone near the USB-C port.

  • If necessary, use a suction handle or strong tape to pull up the back cover and create a gap between it and the midframe.
  • Slide the opening pick to the bottom left corner.

Insert a second opening pick and slide it from the bottom to the top left corner to cut the adhesive.

If necessary, apply more heat to further soften the adhesive; follow the iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

  • Leave the opening picks in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Insert opening pick under top-left corner of back cover.

  • Slide it along top edge of phone.
  • Leave it at top-right corner to prevent reseal.

Insert a fourth opening pick under the top right corner of the back cover.

  • Slide the tip of the opening pick along the side of the phone to the bottom right corner, cutting the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in place at the bottom right corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Remove the back cover.

Apply strong, steady pressure to the device for 3-5 minutes after reassembling to ensure proper bonding of the adhesive. A stack of heavy books can be used as a pressing tool.

Step 8 | Midframe

Remove 13 Phillips #00 screws, each measuring 4 mm in length.

Insert an opening pick into the gap between the display and midframe, starting above the USB-C port.

  • Slide the pick along the bottom edge to release the clips.

Slide the pick further along the left edge, releasing additional clips.

  • Continue guiding the pick with gentle pressure.

Use the opening pick to slide along the top edge.

Slide your opening pick along the right edge, moving towards the bottom right corner.

Remove midframe clips using a suitable tool.

  • Free all clips securing the midframe.
  • Separate the midframe from the phone.

Step 14 | Battery Disconnect

Disconnect the battery connector using a spudger, prying it straight up from its socket.

Step 15 | Battery

Use the flat end of a spudger to gently lift and release the interconnect and display flex cables from their connection points on the motherboard.

Use a spudger to carefully pry up the charging port and

  • Target the connectors at the edge of the board.

Adhesive on Samsung Galaxy A50 battery is extremely strong.

  • Apply isopropyl alcohol under each corner of the battery and let it penetrate for several minutes.
  • Alternatively, apply a heated iOpener to the display directly behind the battery for two minutes.

Avoid deforming the battery during this process, as damage can cause leaks, fires, or explosions.

  • Insert a plastic card under the battery's bottom edge and carefully slide it underneath.
  • Continue sliding the plastic card to loosen the battery adhesive.

Step 19

Never reinstall a damaged or deformed battery — safety hazard.

  • Remove the battery.
  • Replace with a new battery.
  • Before installing, clean glued areas with isopropyl alcohol and lint-free cloth to remove any remaining adhesive.
