Switch off your phone.

If your screen is cracked, cover the front panel with tape to protect yourself from glass shards and improve grip.

  • Use an iOpener to soften glue on display edges. Focus on sides first, then bottom.
  • With an iSclack or suction handle, gently lift the display to access the gap with an opening pick.

When removing the screen, be aware that it consists of two layers (glass and display). Ensure you're separating both correctly.

  • Initial insertion: Insert the tip of the opening pick along a side to loosen glue. Leave top and bottom edges untouched for now.

Insert an opening pick under the display, working it around the bottom edge.

Be extremely cautious not to damage the ribbon cables attached to the software buttons in the lower corners.

  • Lift the display slightly to access underneath with the first pick.
  • Insert a second opening pick, working it around the bottom edge.
  • Repeat on the other side, carefully avoiding ribbon cables.

Heat both the bottom and top parts of the device using the iOpener

  • The glue should be soft enough for you to move the picks closer to the home button.
  • Continue heating until you can open the display towards the top, but do not fully separate it from the motherboard yet.

Do not open the display completely, as it is still connected to the motherboard.

  • The home button may stick to the display assembly or remain on the midframe. Monitor its position if your new display does not have a pre-attached button.
