Samsung Galaxy A5 Battery Replacement

Replacing a swollen battery poses a risk of explosion or fire if not handled properly.

  • Battery needs to be below 25% charge before disassembling the phone.
  • Discharge battery completely as a precautionary measure for safe handling.
  • New adhesive may be required for reassembly of display and mid frame.

Step 1 | Display

Switch off your phone.

  • Apply tape to a cracked front panel if necessary, to prevent glass shards and improve grip.
  • Use an iOpener to soften the display adhesive along the edges, starting with the sides and then moving to the bottom.

Be aware that phone screens have two layers (glass and display), and ensure you are separating both without splitting them.

  • Insert an opening pick tip into the side gap, loosening the adhesive as you slide it along. Initially focus on the sides only.

Step 2

Use an opening pick to loosen glue along the side of the display, then gently lift it for better access.

  • Insert a second opening pick around the bottom edge to continue disassembling the device.
  • Be cautious not to cut ribbon cables connecting software buttons at lower left and right screen corners.

Repeat these steps on the opposite side of the display, ensuring cable safety.

Do not remove the display completely — it is still connected to the motherboard.

  • Heat the bottom and top part of the phone using the iOpener to further soften the adhesive.
  • Use the picks to move towards the home button, eventually working your way up to separate the display from the midframe.
  • The home button may remain attached to the display assembly or the midframe; keep an eye on it during removal.
