Samsung Galaxy A40 Back Cover Replacement

This repair requires a Samsung Galaxy A40 back cover removal. Reassembly will necessitate new adhesive.

Step 1 | Loosen the back cover adhesive

Step 1 image

Apply a heated iOpener to the back cover and wait for at least two minutes.

  • The heat will loosen the adhesive underneath, making it easier to remove.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Attach a suction handle to the right edge of the back cover, near the edge.

If the back cover is damaged, securing the suction handle may be challenging; use strong tape or superglue to ensure it stays in place while it cures.

  • Lift the back cover with the suction handle to create a small gap between the back cover and frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

If necessary, apply more heat to further loosen the adhesive, but be cautious not to overheat the area; refer to the iOpener instructions for guidance.

Step 3 | Slice the adhesive

Insert the opening pick into the bottom right corner and hold it there.

This will prevent the adhesive from sealing again.

Step 4 | Insert a second opening pick

  • Insert another opening pick into the bottom right corner.
  • Slide the new opening pick along the right edge, cutting adhesive beneath the back cover.
  • Leave the pick in place at the top right corner.

At this point, feel free to remove or continue using the suction cup for better grip.

Step 5 | Cut the adhesive

  • Insert a third opening pick at the top right corner of the phone.
  • Be careful not to let the adhesive reseal — leave the opening pick in the top left corner.

  • Slide the opening pick along the top edge to cut the adhesive.

If the adhesive becomes hard to cut, it may have cooled down. Reheat it with your iOpener.
