Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 Battery Replacement

Replace a swollen battery with caution, as it may be prone to explosion or fire if damaged.

  • Discharge the battery below 25% before disassembling.

The rear glass cover and mid frame must be removed for this repair. Replacement adhesive is required to reattach the back cover.

Step 1 | Back cover

Switch off your phone.

Be careful not to touch any internal components.

  • Heat the adhesive on the back cover using an iOpener.
  • Lift the bottom part of the back cover with a suction handle.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

Position the opening pick near the rear camera and gently slide it upwards to create a gap between the back cover and the frame.

Insert another opening pick, moving it to the opposite corner at the lower part of the back cover.

  • Slide the second pick along the left side of the back cover to release the adhesive.
  • Move the pick around the upper left corner and loosen the adhesive above the rear camera.
  • Apply heat with an iOpener to loosen the remaining adhesive underneath the center of the back cover.

Insert a plastic card at the bottom of the device.

  • Slide it underneath the back cover.
  • Separate the glue until reaching the rear camera.
  • Lift up the back cover slowly and remove it.

Step 6 | Battery

  • Take out the SIM card tray.
  • Remove all 16 Phillips #00 screws from the midframe.

Apply heat from the iOpener to loosen the adhesive around the mid frame.

Separate the components by pushing the exposed battery away from the midframe.

  • Remove the midframe after separating it.

Insert a plastic spudger between the battery and the frame.

  • Slide along the battery to separate the adhesive.
  • Avoid damaging the display underneath – be cautious not to push too deep with the tool.

Removing the battery may result in the need for new adhesive when installing a replacement.

Remove the battery.
