Samsung Galaxy A20e Screen Replacement

Deformed batteries pose a safety hazard; replace with new one if deformed during removal.

  • If frame is deformed, replace it to ensure correct screen mounting and prevent damage from uneven pressure.

Lithium-ion battery must be removed for access to display cables due to phone design.

  • Verify replacement part compatibility: some screens come pre-installed in a new frame, requiring a different procedure.

Replacement adhesive is required for reassembling the device.

Step 1 | Remove the SIM tray

Power down your Galaxy A20e and remove it from any charger.

  • Insert a SIM card eject tool, SIM eject bit, or a straightened paper clip into the hole on the SIM tray, located on the left side of the phone.
  • Press the tool firmly into the hole to eject the SIM card tray.
  • Remove the SIM card tray.
  • When reinserting cards, ensure they are properly oriented in the tray.

Step 2 | Unclip the plastic clips

Locate the plastic clips holding the back cover in place.

  • Insert an opening pick between the screen and the back cover on the left edge, next to the SIM-eject hole.

Insert an opening pick into the bottom left corner and slide it around to unclip the plastic clips.

Slide the opening pick along the bottom edge of the device.

  • The tool will help unclip any plastic clips that are holding parts in place.

  • Slide the opening pick along the right edge until it reaches the top right corner.
  • The goal is to unclip the plastic clips.

Step 6 | Remove the back cover

  • Remove the back cover.
  • Carefully separate the phone assembly from the back cover.

Step 7 | Disconnect the fingerprint sensor

Insert an opening pick under the fingerprint sensor and carefully pry it loose.

  • Gently rock the opening pick back and forth until the sensor is disconnected from its housing.

Step 8 | Loosen the fingerprint sensor

Use a precision opening pick to gently push on the left edge of the fingerprint sensor.

  • The sensor should slide smoothly to the right, separating from the motherboard cover.

Step 9 | Remove the fingerprint sensor

Remove the fingerprint sensor.

Step 10 | Unscrew the motherboard covers

Remove the motherboard cover screws using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • There are six 3.5 mm-long screws.

Step 11 | Unclip the upper motherboard cover

Insert an opening pick beneath the upper motherboard cover.

  • Slide the opening pick towards the outer edges of the device to unclip the plastic clips.

Step 12 | Remove the motherboard covers

Remove the upper motherboard cover.

  • Remove the lower motherboard cover.

Step 13 | Disconnect the battery

Insert the opening pick into the battery connector and gently pry it straight up from its socket.

Step 14 | Disconnect the flex cables

Insert the opening pick between the interconnect and display flex cables.

  • Pry the interconnect connector straight up from its socket.
  • Pry the display flex cable connector straight up from its socket.

Step 15 | Unscrew the daughterboard cover

Remove the daughterboard cover using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • There are seven screws, each 3.5 mm long.

Step 17 | Heat the display

Avoid overheating when using the iOpener.

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the screen for at least two minutes.
  • Reheat and reapply as needed until the phone is warm enough to cut adhesive.

Step 18 | Insert an opening pick

Allow the screen to warm up.

  • Apply a suction handle to the left edge, but be prepared for it not to stick due to cracks in the screen.
  • If not sticking, use strong tape or superglue, let cure before proceeding

  • Lift the screen with the suction handle to create a gap between the screen and frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap between the screen and midframe.

Step 19 | Slice the adhesive

Insert the opening pick at the bottom of the left edge and slide it up towards the top left corner.

Do not remove the opening pick — this can cause the adhesive to reseal.

Insert a second opening pick at the top left corner.

  • Slide it down the left edge to the bottom left corner, cutting the adhesive.
  • Leave both picks in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner.

  • Slide the pick along the bottom edge to the bottom right corner.
  • Leave it in place to hold the adhesive open.

Insert a fourth opening pick at the bottom right corner.

  • Slide the pick along the right edge to the top right corner.
  • Leave it in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Insert a fifth opening pick under the top right corner.

  • Slide it along the top edge of the phone to cut the remaining adhesive.
  • When slicing near the front facing camera, insert only the tip (3 mm) of the opening pick to avoid damaging or smearing the camera.

Do not remove the screen completely yet. The display cable is still threaded through the midframe.

Step 24 | Separate the screen

Pass the display flex cable through the opening in the frame.

Step 25 | Remove the screen

Remove the screen.

  • Compare your new replacement part to the original part and transfer any remaining components.
  • If necessary, remove the adhesive backings from the new part before installing.
