Samsung Galaxy A20e Fingerprint Sensor Replacement

This repair guide is for replacing a faulty fingerprint sensor in the Samsung Galaxy A20e.

Step 1 | Remove the SIM tray

Power down and disconnect from charger.

  • Insert a SIM eject tool, SIM eject bit or paper clip into SIM tray hole on left side of phone.
  • Firmly press tool in to eject SIM card tray.
  • Remove the ejected SIM card tray.
  • When reinserting cards, ensure proper orientation in tray.

Step 2 | Unclip the plastic clips

Locate the plastic clips holding the back cover in place.

  • Insert an opening pick between the screen and back cover on the left edge, next to the SIM-eject tool hole.

Slide the opening pick around the bottom left corner to release the plastic clips.

Insert the opening pick at the bottom edge and slide it along to unclip the plastic clips.

Insert the opening pick at the bottom right edge and slide it upwards towards the top right corner to release the plastic clips.

Step 6 | Remove the back cover

Remove the back cover screws to access the phone assembly.

  • Carefully lift and separate the phone assembly from the back cover.

Step 7 | Disconnect the fingerprint sensor

Apply an opening pick to carefully pry up and disconnect the fingerprint sensor.

Step 8 | Loosen the fingerprint sensor

Locate the fingerprint sensor on the left edge.

  • Apply gentle pressure using a pointed tool, such as an opening pick, on the left edge of the sensor.
  • The sensor will slide to the right, separating it from the motherboard cover.

Step 9 | Remove the fingerprint sensor

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable.

  • Gently pry the sensor away from its adhesive backing.
  • Use a plastic spudger to release any additional clips or retaining mechanisms.
  • Remove the sensor from the device.
