Samsung Galaxy A20e Battery Replacement

Discharge your battery below 25% for safety, as a swollen or damaged battery can cause a thermal event.

  • Replace a worn-out or dead Samsung Galaxy A20e battery with a new one.
  • You'll need replacement adhesive to reattach components during reassembly.

Step 1 | Remove the SIM tray

Power down and remove the Galaxy A20e from the charger.

  • Insert a SIM card eject tool, SIM eject bit, or a straightened paper clip into the left SIM tray hole.
  • Firmly press the tool to eject the SIM card tray.
  • Remove the SIM card tray.

When reinserting cards, ensure proper orientation in the tray.

Step 2 | Unclip the plastic clips

Locate the plastic clips holding the back cover in place.

  • Insert an opening pick between the screen and the back cover on the left edge next to the hole for the SIM-eject tool.

Insert an opening pick into the bottom left corner and gently slide it around to release the plastic clips.

Slide the opening pick along the bottom edge to release the plastic clips.

Slide the opening pick along the right edge of the device, moving it to the top right corner.

  • The goal is to release the plastic clips.
  • This will allow you to access further components.

Step 6 | Remove the back cover

Remove the phone assembly from the back cover.

Step 7 | Disconnect the fingerprint sensor

Insert an opening pick between the fingerprint sensor and the phone's casing.

  • Pry upwards carefully, working your way around the edges of the sensor until it is fully disconnected.
  • The sensor will likely be secured by a small amount of adhesive; use caution to avoid damaging the surrounding area.

Step 8 | Loosen the fingerprint sensor

Locate the fingerprint sensor on the left edge.

  • Insert a plastic opening pick under the sensor at the left edge.
  • Pull the pick to slide the sensor to the right, separating it from the motherboard cover.

Step 9 | Remove the fingerprint sensor

Remove the fingerprint sensor.

Step 10 | Unfasten the screws

Remove the motherboard covers with a Phillips screwdriver.

  • There are six screws each 3.5 mm long.

Step 11 | Unclip the upper motherboard cover

  • Insert an opening pick under the upper motherboard cover.
  • Use the opening pick to release the plastic clips and remove the cover.

Step 12 | Remove the motherboard covers

Remove the upper motherboard cover.

  • Remove the lower motherboard cover.

Step 13 | Disconnect the battery

Insert an opening pick into the battery connector and gently pry it straight up from its socket.

Step 14 | Disconnect the flex cables

Use the opening pick to pry the interconnect and display flex cable connectors straight up from their sockets.

Step 15 | Free up the battery

Move the flex cables downward, keeping them away from the battery.

Avoid creasing or damaging the flex cables.

Step 16 | Apply adhesive remover

Apply a few drops of adhesive remover or high-concentration (90% or higher) isopropyl alcohol into the gap at the left edge of the battery.

  • Lift the bottom of your phone to tilt it towards the rear facing camera, allowing the adhesive remover to spread out underneath the battery.
  • Allow the adhesive remover to penetrate the battery adhesive for at least 1 minute.

Step 17 | Pry up the battery

Never apply excessive force or use metal tools on the battery — risk of explosion or fire.

  • Insert a plastic card under the left edge of the battery and slide it underneath to loosen the adhesive.
  • Continue sliding the plastic card to pry up the battery from its recess.
  • The battery should come off easily; if still sticky, repeat the previous adhesive remover procedure.

Step 18 | Remove the battery
