Samsung Galaxy A20 Charging Port Replacement

Replacing a damaged charging port requires advanced soldering skills.

  • Remove broken charging port using a soldering iron and desolder wick.
  • Install brand-new charging port with soldering iron and flux.

Unplug the device from power.

  • Power off the device.
  • Remove the SIM card.
  • Remove the SIM card tray.

Avoid using excessive force, as this can damage components.

  • Warm the adhesive with an iOpener or heat gun.
  • Insert an opening pick in the seam between the back cover and chassis while the adhesive is warm.
  • Slide the pick around the entire perimeter, reapplying heat as necessary to avoid cold adhesive.

Do not attempt to cut through cold adhesive.

  • Back cover: carefully remove once the adhesive has been sufficiently loosened.

    • Remove the 13 3.6 mm Phillips screws securing the midframe.
    • Pry up and lift out the midframe using an opening pick.

    Locate the press connectors on both ends of the ribbon cables.

    • Use a opening tool to gently pry up each connector, working from both sides.

    Disconnect the red antenna cable from the I/O board.

    • Use an opening pick to pry up and remove the I/O board.

    Step 5 | Charging Port

    Use of soldering iron poses fire and burn risks; work in a well-ventilated area.

    • Desolder the charging port.
