Samsung Galaxy A15 Screen Assembly Replacement

Do not reuse the original screen assembly's parts when reassembling the device.

  • Acquire new adhesive for the back cover, vibration motor, and earpiece speaker.
  • Also obtain a replacement battery as the old one may have been damaged during disassembly.

Step 1 | Prepare the phone for disassembly

Let the phone's battery drain below 25% before starting — a charged lithium-ion battery may catch fire if damaged.

  • Unplug all cables and completely power off the phone.
  • Press and hold the power and volume down buttons simultaneously to access the shutdown menu.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Excessive heat can cause permanent damage.

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the right edge of the back cover for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer but avoid overheating the phone:
    • The display, internal battery, and plastic back are prone to heat damage.
    • Aim for a temperature where the phone feels too hot to touch comfortably.

While waiting for the adhesive to soften, note that:

  • The back cover is secured by adhesive along the perimeter of the frame.
  • An additional layer of adhesive is present near the bottom of the phone.
  • Avoid prying deeper than 4 mm from the edge, except in this specific area.

Step 4 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction handle to the back cover near its right edge.

Use strong, steady force to create a gap between the cover and frame.

  • If necessary, apply more heat to soften the adhesive further.
  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 5 | Slice the adhesive

Insert an opening pick into the right edge, between the back cover and the , slicing through the adhesive.

Leave the opening pick in place at the bottom right corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Heat the iOpener until warm, then apply it to the underside of the back cover for 2 minutes.

  • Insert an opening pick into the bottom right corner, then slide it along the bottom edge to cut through the adhesive.
  • Keep a separate opening pick in place at the bottom left corner to prevent re-adhesion.

Reheat the iOpener and apply it to the left side of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Insert another opening pick into the bottom left corner and slide it along the left edge, slicing through the adhesive.

Do not insert the pick deeper than 4 mm to avoid damaging the rear cameras or flash.

  • Leave the existing opening pick in the top left corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Reheat the iOpener and apply it to the top of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Insert an opening pick into the top left corner, at the same depth as the previous pick.

  • Slide the new pick along the top edge to cut through the remaining adhesive.
  • Leave another opening pick in place on the top right corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 12 | Unfasten the camera clips

Insert an opening pick along the top edge of the phone, twisting it gently to loosen the camera clips.

  • Slide the opening pick around the edge of the camera modules to unfasten remaining clips.
  • Limit insertion depth to 4 mm to avoid damaging rear cameras or flash.

Step 13 | Slice remaining adhesive

  • Insert an opening pick into the bottom edge from the bottom left corner.
  • Slide the pick across the bottom edge to slice the remaining adhesive.

Step 14 | Remove the back cover

Lift and remove the back cover.

  • During reassembly, power on the phone to test all functions.
  • Power down the phone completely before continuing work.

  • Remove any adhesive chunks using tweezers or your fingers.
  • Isopropyl alcohol (90% or greater) and heat may be required for stubborn adhesives.

Step 15 | Remove the SIM tray

Insert SIM card eject tool, bit, or a straightened paperclip into the hole on the SIM tray, located towards the top of the phone on the left edge.

Press in firmly to eject the tray and remove it.

Step 16 | Remove the frame screws

Remove the 15 4mm long screws that connect the frame to the chassis.

Step 17 | Disconnect the fingerprint button

Use the flat end of a spudger to pry up and disconnect the fingerprint button press connector from the motherboard.

Step 18 | Unfasten the frame clips

Flip the phone over with the screen facing upwards.

  • Insert an opening pick between the screen and SIM card tray cutout, creating a gap.
  • Slide the opening pick down the left edge to release the frame clips.

Slide the opening pick around the phone's perimeter to loosen all clips.

  • If the pick escapes, reinsert it at the most recently loosened corner.

Step 20 | Remove the frame

Remove the phone frame by pulling it straight off.

Step 21 | Disconnect the battery

Locate the battery press connector on the motherboard.

  • Insert the flat end of a spudger under the connector.
  • Lift up to disconnect the battery press connector from the motherboard.

Step 22 | Disconnect the interconnect cable

Locate and separate the OCTA connectors, ensuring correct disconnection.

  • Pry up the top OCTA cable connector with a flat spudger.
  • Gently release the upper connector from the lower one to complete separation.

  • Pry up the "SUB" connector from the daughterboard using the flat end of a spudger.
  • Disconnect the "SUB" connector.

Disconnect the Main connector from the motherboard using a flat-ended spudger.

Step 25 | Remove the interconnect cable

  • Pick up the interconnect cable.
  • Remove it from the phone.

Step 26 | Peel up the pull tabs

Peel up blue battery pull tab and grasp with your fingers.

Use your fingers to carefully pry the small tabs from the top and bottom corners of the battery's left edge.

If these tabs are not fully separated, you will not be able to lift the battery in the next step.

Step 28 | Separate the battery adhesive

Risk of chemical leak or fire if battery is creased or bent.

  • Fold upper and lower tabs out of the way with one hand while holding down the frame.
  • Pull up on the blue battery pull tab firmly until it separates from the adhesive.

If still stuck, apply isopropyl alcohol (90% or greater) and wait before trying again.

Step 29 | Remove the battery adhesive

Use an adhesive remover to carefully peel off any remaining battery adhesive from the phone's frame.

Disconnect the battery by carefully pulling it out of its holder.

  • Remove any protective film or covering from the new battery if applicable.

Step 31 | Detach the display cable connector

Insert flat end of spudger under display ribbon connector, prying it from board.

Step 32 | Remove the daughterboard screw

Remove the screw (3 mm) using a Phillips screwdriver.

Remove the motherboard retaining screw with a Phillips screwdriver.

  • The screw is located at the bottom of the phone and measures 3 mm in length.

Step 34 | Remove the boards

Be gentle with the antenna cables when removing the motherboard and daughterboard.

  • Pull both boards straight up and out of the phone by their edges.
  • If stuck, gently pull on the antenna cable until it releases.

Step 35 | Remove the vibration motor

Insert the angled tweezers into the gap under the vibration motor near the phone's bottom.

  • Lift the vibration motor out of the phone using the tweezers.

Step 36 | Remove the earpiece speaker

Insert the angled tweezers into the gap next to the earpiece speaker.

  • Get underneath the earpiece speaker and gently pry it up.
  • Lift the earpiece speaker out of the phone.

Step 37 | Only the screen assembly remains

Inspect the new screen assembly against the old one for any necessary component transfers or removal of adhesive strips.

  • Transfer any remaining components from the original part to the replacement.
  • Remove any protective adhesive backings from the new part, if present.
