A fully charged lithium-ion battery can be a fire hazard if damaged, so let it drain below 25% before proceeding.

  • Unplug all cables and power off the phone completely.
  • To access the shutdown menu, press and hold the power and volume down buttons simultaneously.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Step 2 image

Heat damage can occur if components become too hot.

  • Apply an iOpener to the right edge of the back cover for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer at a safe distance to warm up the area without overheating the phone.

Step 3

Step 3 image

Understand the adhesive layout:

  • An additional layer of adhesive is located at the bottom of the phone.

Be cautious: do not pry deeper than 4 mm from the edge, except in the area below the additional adhesive layer.
