Samsung Galaxy A15 Front Camera Replacement

Replace the front/selfie camera in your Samsung Galaxy A15 using this guide.

  • Reassembly requires replacement adhesive for the back cover.

Step 1 | Prepare the phone for disassembly

A fully charged lithium-ion battery can be hazardous if damaged — let it drain below 25% first.

  • Unplug all cables and completely power off the phone.
  • Press and hold the power and volume down buttons simultaneously to access the shutdown menu.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Apply heat to the right edge of the back cover using an iOpener for 2 minutes.

  • iOpener or a hair dryer with caution to prevent overheating damage to display, internal battery, and plastic back.
  • The phone should be slightly warm but not hot enough to cause discomfort when touched.

While waiting for the adhesive to soften, note:

  • The back cover is secured by adhesive around the frame's perimeter.
  • A secondary layer of adhesive exists near the phone's bottom.

Do not penetrate more than 4 mm from the edge in most areas to avoid damage.

Step 4 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction handle to the back cover near its center on the right edge.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the cover and frame.
  • If needed, apply more heat to further soften the adhesive.
  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 5 | Slice the adhesive

Insert an opening pick into the right edge, sliding it between the back cover and the , and gently slice through the adhesive.

  • Leave the opening pick in the bottom right corner to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Reapply iOpener to the bottom of the back cover for two minutes.

Slide a new opening pick into the bottom right corner, moving it along the bottom edge to cut the adhesive.

  • Leave an existing opening pick in the bottom left corner to hold the adhesive open.

Step 8

Reheat the iOpener and apply heat to the left side of the back cover for two minutes.

Insert an additional opening pick into the bottom left corner and slide it along the left edge, carefully slicing through the adhesive.

Leave one pick in place at the top left corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

  • Insert the pick no more than 4 mm deep to avoid damaging the rear cameras or flash.

Reheat the iOpener and apply heat to the top edge of the back cover for two minutes.

Insert an additional opening pick into the top left corner, ensuring it's at the same depth as the first.

  • Slide this new pick along the top edge of the device to carefully slice through the adhesive.
  • Leave one opening pick in place near the top right corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 12 | Unfasten the camera clips

Insert an opening pick along the top edge, twisting it gently to release the camera clips.

  • Slide the opening pick around the camera modules to unfasten remaining clips.
  • Limit insertion depth to 4 mm to avoid damaging cameras or flash.

Step 13 | Slice remaining adhesive

Insert an opening pick at the bottom left corner of the phone's bottom edge.

  • Work the pick along the bottom edge, sliding it further into the phone to slice the adhesive.

Step 14 | Remove the back cover

Power on the phone before reassembly to test all functions.

  • Lift and remove the back cover.

Ensure the phone is powered down completely before proceeding with repairs.

  • Remove any adhesive chunks using tweezers or your fingers.
  • If necessary, apply heat and 90%+ isopropyl alcohol to loosen adhesive.
  • Custom-cut adhesives: Follow the designated guide for application.
  • Double-sided tape: Follow the designated guide for removal.

Step 15 | Remove the SIM tray

Insert SIM card eject tool, bit, or a straightened paperclip into the hole on the SIM tray, located towards the top of the phone on the left edge.

  • Press in firmly to eject the tray.
  • Remove the ejected SIM tray.

Step 16 | Remove the frame screws

Remove all 15 x 4mm screws securing the frame to the chassis.

Step 17 | Disconnect the fingerprint button

Locate the fingerprint button press connector on the motherboard.

Use the flat end of a spudger to carefully pry it loose.

Step 18 | Unfasten the frame clips

Flip the phone over with the screen facing up.

Slide the opening pick around the perimeter of the phone to unfasten all clips.

  • If the opening pick escapes from the phone, reinsert it at the last unfastened corner.

Step 20 | Remove the frame

Remove the frame from the phone by pulling it directly upwards.

Step 21 | Disconnect the battery

Use the flat end of a spudger to release the battery connector.

  • Lift up on the connector with the flat end of the spudger.
  • The connector should now be free from the motherboard.

Step 22 | Remove the front camera

Disengage the front camera press connector using the flat end of a spudger.

  • Remove the front camera after disconnecting the connector.
