Step 1 | Back Cover

Insert the SIM eject tool into the sim tray hole.

  • Push down on the tool until a portion of the sim tray is exposed.
  • Pull out the remaining part of the sim tray.

Insert an iFixit opening pick into the gap near the SIM tray on the back cover.

  • Gently work the pick along the gap until the clips holding it together start to release.
  • If possible, use multiple picks to keep the back cover open and prevent it from closing.

Use a hair dryer on low heat to warm the fingerprint sensor in 30-second increments.

  • Gently push the fingerprint sensor to detach it from the back cover.
  • If necessary, pry the button loose from the bottom of the device.

Step 4 | Battery

Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the three 3 mm screws from the shield.

  • Remove the shield from the phone once the screws are loose.

Disconnect the battery press connector using tweezers, a spudger, or your fingers.

Never apply heat or use a hairdryer if The Battery Is Expanded.

  • Use a hairdryer on low heat (if not using an expanded battery) to soften adhesive under the battery.
  • Insert an iFixit pry tool under the battery edge.
  • If needed, use multiple iFixit pry tools to secure the battery in place.
  • Continue cutting the adhesive until the battery can be pried away from the phone.
  • Remove the battery from the phone.

Step 7 | Daughterboard

Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove eight screw heads, located on the speaker cover.

  • The screws are silver and black, with a diameter of 3 mm.
  • Remove the speaker cover from the device once all screws have been removed.

Use a spudger to disconnect the antenna heads from the daughterboard.

  • Remove the ribbon cable from the daughterboard.

Use tweezers to carefully remove the daughterboard from the device.

Avoid using metal tools as they may cause damage, always handle with care.

Step 10 | Vibration Motor

Remove the vibrator motor using tweezers.

Apply gentle heat if necessary to loosen the adhesive, avoiding damage.
