Samsung Fascinate Headphone Jack/Audio Output Replacement

To access and install/replace this component, you must first disconnect the Headphone Jack/Audio Output.

Step 1 | Back Case

Locate the slit on the Samsung Galaxy S's lower edge.

  • Prepare a spudger for removal assistance (optional).

Insert the edge of a spudger into the slit, then pry the back case away from the phone.

Step 3 | Battery

Insert the spudger into the gap between the battery and the phone. Pry the battery loose by sliding the spudger along its underside.

Step 4 | Speaker

  • Unscrew the 6 silver screws using a screwdriver.
  • Use a spudger if the screws are stuck, and gently pry them loose.

Insert the plastic opening tool's thin edge into the groove between the silver edge and black edge.

  • Pry gently to separate the main case from the LCD touchscreen.
  • Run the tool around the phone's edge until each clip detaches, indicated by a distinct sound.

Separate the main case from the LCD touchscreen.

  • Maintain orientation of the main case during separation.
  • Carefully lift the LCD touchscreen away from the main case.

Use a spudger to carefully pry out the grey rubber rectangular component from the main case.

Use the spudger to gently pry along the groove between the speaker and the main case.

The speaker should then come loose and pop out easily once it's unclipped.

Step 9 | Camera

  • Detach the black square component using a plastic opening tool.
  • Pry the camera unit (attached) from the motherboard.

Step 10 | Headphone Jack/Audio Output

Use a plastic opening tool to release the green square components securing the AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE to the MOTHERBOARD.

  • Unscrew the 2 black screws holding the AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE in place using a screwdriver.

Remove the 2 black screws.

  • The silver plate should come right off.
  • Gently pull the Audio Output device off the LCD touchscreen, secured by weak adhesive.
  • You can now install a new Headphone Jack/Audio Output device.
