Samsung Exhibit II 4G Headphone Jack Replacement

  • Headphone Jack replacement is required due to failure.
  • Follow the steps outlined in this guide for successful replacement.

Step 1 | Battery

Use a plastic opening tool to insert under the back cover.

  • Apply steady pressure while gently moving the tool downwards.
  • The back cover should now pop off easily.

Step 2

Insert the plastic opening tool under the battery.

  • Pry the battery out.

Step 3 | Top Rear Housing Cover

Place the plastic opening tool under the back cover.

  • Pry the top cover upwards with the plastic tool.
  • The top cover should now be removed from the phone.

Remove top cover.

  • Remove the four 3.8mm Phillips #000 screws.
  • Ensure correct screw location: two from top, two from back.

  • Place a plastic opening tool underneath the top cover.
  • Use your hands to gently pry and slide the top cover away from the phone.

Step 7 | Midframe

Remove the four 3.8mm Phillips #000 screws securing the back assembly.

Use a plastic opening tool to separate the back assembly from the phone.

  • Position the tool between the back assembly and the phone.
  • Gently pry the back assembly away from the phone.

Step 9

Use a plastic opening tool to pry gently along the edges of the back assembly.

Slide the back panel assembly off the main body.

Step 11 | Vibration Motor

Insert the pointed end of a spudger into the gap.

  • Use the spudger to pry out the vibrator.
  • Remove the vibrator from its adhesive backing.

Remove the vibrator cable from the motherboard using the flat end of a spudger.

Step 13 | Rear Facing Camera

Disconnect the camera assembly cable with the flat end of a spudger.

  • Extract the camera from its square-shaped enclosure.

Step 15 | Motherboard

  • Insert the spudger under each corner ribbon cable to lift them out of the way.
  • Be cautious when lifting the ribbon cables to avoid damage.
  • Use a plastic pry tool to create a gap between the motherboard and base of phone.

Carefully tilt the motherboard upwards.

Avoid damaging the remaining ribbon cable at the bottom.

  • Use a spudger to pry the connector from its socket on the motherboard.
  • Lift the motherboard out of the frame.

Step 17 | Headphone Jack

Insert the flat end of the spudger into the gap between the support panel and front assembly.

Be careful not to press too hard, as this may damage surrounding components.

  • Pry up carefully with the spudger to create an opening for the plastic opening tool.
  • Insert the plastic opening tool into the gap you have created.

  • Insert a plastic opening tool into the opening.
  • Pry around the edge of the support panel with the plastic opening tool to release it from the front assembly.

  • Spudger insertion:
    • Pointed end into gap.
  • Lift away from support plate to remove headphone component.

Remove the headphone jack component from its rectangular housing using the flat end of a spudger.
